For example, a uniform with a company logo isn’t suitable for everyday wear, so it would qualify as a deduction.

The portion of your non-reimbursed employee expenses that is deductible is only that portion that exceeds 2% of your adjusted gross income. For example, if your AGI is $50,000, your total laundry and other non-reimbursed business expenses would need to exceed $1,000 to be deductible.

Can You claim clothing expenses on your tax return?

You can’t claim a deduction if your employer: reimburses you for expenses you incur on or for work clothing. You also can’t claim a deduction for buying, hiring, repairing or cleaning conventional clothing you buy for work, such as black trousers.
