In line with Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE), it is now a legal requirement for the registered keeper of a vehicle to insure it even if it is not being used and/or is parked on private land. The only exemption to this is if it has a SORN.

Yes, Allstate has a grace period of 30 days for new cars, according to multiple third-party sources. This means that existing customers have 30 days to officially add a new car to their insurance policy and purchase any additional coverage that it may need.

Am I covered if I buy a new car?

Yes. Most insurance companies provide automatic coverage for new purchases equal to the broadest coverage you have on your current or other cars. In other words, if you already have a car insurance policy in effect and you purchase a new vehicle, that policy will cover you for up to 4 days.
