Is a degree from a nationally accredited college good?

By Sophia Koch |

If you are looking at a more technical or vocational subject of study, then a nationally accredited school may have the best programs for you. Do employers look at college accreditation?

Why is national accreditation bad?

It is important to note that national accreditation is widely regarded as a less rigorous standard than regional accreditation. As such, the vast majority of regionally accredited colleges or universities will not accept transfer credits or recognize degrees earned from nationally accredited schools.

Yes, it matters. A Biology degree is the same no matter which school you go to. However, if you are paying the extreme high costs of college in the USA just for the credential, you are doing it wrong. If all you want is piece of paper that gets you into a job/trade then you go the cheapest route possible.

What does it mean if a course is not accredited?

The problem with an unaccredited course is that there is no quality control. Governing bodies cannot assess or guide training schools if they do not apply for accreditation. In short, an accredited course means that students know they are receiving quality education.
