Is it boring to be a librarian?

It’s definitely not boring to be a librarian. I’m the Head of Youth Services at a small-to-medium sized public library. One of the things that I love most about library work is that you’re so often doing something different.

Do librarians have a future?

Employment of librarians and library media specialists is projected to grow 5 percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations. Communities are increasingly turning to libraries for a variety of services and activities.

What are the disadvantages of being a librarian?

Becoming a librarian is not the road to monetary riches. For the person who loves old-fashioned books and wants to spend the day talking to people about them, being a librarian today could be a disappointment. The offerings of libraries are increasingly digital, with a far greater emphasis on music, movies, and even video games.

What are the pros and cons of being a library assistant?

Some patrons are this gross and I fantasize about burning them alive when they even so much as sniffle. Then you have the filthy, snot-cloud spewing abominations that touch everything (children). Is it good to work in a library?

It’s not really this chill nor is it always a low-stress environment, but as a whole, working in a library is pretty relaxing. Some patrons are this gross and I fantasize about burning them alive when they even so much as sniffle. Then you have the filthy, snot-cloud spewing abominations that touch everything (children).

What to do if you want to be a librarian?

Go and visit the library school where you’re thinking about applying and talk to the students there. Some of them will be brilliant and will help you navigate your decision. Some of them will be total dumb arses, which is something you’re going to have to prepare yourself for anyway if you go.
