What is the first tax form you fill out?

The Form 1040 is the basic form for filing your federal income taxes. No matter what your financial situation, you need to use this form for your 2019 taxes. The form walks you through calculating your AGI and claiming any credits or deductions for which you qualify.

Can I fill out tax forms by hand?

The IRS says, “Although handwritten forms are acceptable, they must be completely legible and accurate to avoid processing errors. Handwritten forms often result in name/TIN mismatches.” Efiling is the most accurate and efficient way of filing 1099s, W2s, and other tax forms.

Can you fill out your own tax return?

The Internal Revenue Service encourages taxpayers to file electronically. However, people who prepare their own returns may mail in paper forms. Either way, the preparation is the same.

Who is required to file an estimated tax return?
